Procurement
Buying inspectorjay
Everything your purchasing office, IT department, and attorney will ask for is on this one page, so you can send them the link and skip most of the back-and-forth.
The short version
- $5,000 once for setup, then $10,000 a year (or $1,000 a month) for up to 50 users. The first-year total is $15,000. There's only one plan and no discounts, so every agency pays the same.
- Pay by ACH, card, or invoice. Invoices are due in 30 days, or longer if your state's prompt payment law allows it.
- Your purchase order or contract comes first wherever it conflicts with our terms.
- If your governing body doesn't fund a later term, you can end the subscription with no penalty.
- Your state's law governs, disputes go to your courts, and there's no arbitration. We never ask you to indemnify us.
- Cancel any time, and export your data whenever you want.
At $15,000 for the first year, it's worth asking your purchasing office whether it falls under your bid threshold.

Contract terms written for public agencies
Our Terms of Service were written to fit public agencies' procurement rules, so most of the clauses an attorney would ask to add are already there.
| Clause | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Order of precedence | Your written agreement or purchase order controls where it conflicts with our terms. Terms the law requires in your contracts apply even if we didn't write them. |
| Payment | Net 30, or your state's prompt payment period if longer. No late fees or interest beyond what that law allows. No sales tax with an exemption certificate. A paid term's price never changes. |
| Non-appropriation | If your governing body doesn't fund a later term, you end the subscription at the end of the last funded term, with no penalty. |
| Renewal | A yearly subscription renews only when you pay the next year's invoice, which we send at least 30 days ahead. |
| Data ownership | Your agency owns its data. Export it any time; at the end, we keep it at least 90 days for export, then delete it, backups included, when you confirm. |
| Public records | Nothing in the terms stops you meeting public records and open meetings laws. Our terms and prices aren't confidential. |
| Security and breach notice | Data stays in the United States. We notify you within 24 hours of confirming an incident that affects your data, and 30 days before adding a service that receives it. |
| Warranty | The service works as described, and we won't cut features during a paid term. If we can't fix a problem within 30 days, you can cancel for a prorated refund. |
| Indemnity | We defend you against claims that the service infringes someone's rights. We don't ask you to indemnify us. |
| Liability | Capped at 12 months' fees for both sides, except for our infringement defense, gross negligence, and willful misconduct. The cap adds to any immunity or limit the law gives you. |
| Immunity and governing law | Nothing waives your immunity, including any tort claims act. Your state's law governs, in your state's courts, with no arbitration. |
| Changes | A change to the terms never applies to a term you've already paid for unless you agree in writing. |
Reviews your agency may need
- IT and security. The Security page covers hosting, separation between agencies, encryption, sign-in, backups, and what we don't have yet. The full packet is on request.
- Accessibility. The Accessibility page and the public conformance report cover the ADA Title II requirement for WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Records. Every change is kept and attributed, retention schedules start from your state's defaults, and one click exports what a public records request needs. See Records.
- The people who'll use it. The live demo needs no sign-up, so inspectors can try it on their own phones first.
